KHAN RE-ELECTION LOOKS RIGGED SAYS PIERS CORBYN - QUESTIONS MUST BE ASKED.

The problem with this declared result of 44% votes for Khan (and about 34% for Tory Susan Hall) is that it doesn't square with experience on the ground.

Firstly the reported turn-out in inner London seemed to massively exceed the massive disinterest experienced. A lot didn't even know there was an election.

Second the initial response of Tories that they might have won was based on early observations but the turnout figures were way beyond initial understandings when they came out.

THIRD, In 4 weeks of campaigning in various ways just about every day I only met one person who declared for Khan (and I convinced him in 2 minutes why he should back me if I was allowed to stand). Many more said they'd vote for Hall. Of course many would not say but evidence from my experience in all previous elections is that many more would have stated they supported a candidate who eventually won.

I suspect Postal Vote fraud. I note one case of a voter in my local polling station who on asking for his vote was told he had already postal voted. He said he had not and indeed had never postal voted. He wasn't allowed to vote.
Someone had somehow postal-voted for him.

Postal Votes are open to fraud.
We look forward to someone revealing what happened.

We need to ask the Greater London Returning Officer and every constituency Returning officer:
1. How many (and percentage) PVs were issued for Mayor.
2. What percentage of those actually voted. Was it higher than the % direct poll locally?
3. What % of PVs were issued to an alternative address - eg to a political party activist or operative who could vote on behalf of the voter. [This is a simple process under PV rules].

Let us all hope that the Returning Officers will respond quickly and that someone involved will reveal what happened and we can have a new election.

It's also notable there were many cases of refusing ID. Someone I met wrecked a polling station because her pic ID was refused.
